Site of the independent artist – decisions on Recording Studio

Now that you've had an introduction General registration, especially for monitoring of a live performance, this href = "http://www.trackbuzzer.com"> Artist Independent website will give you an overview of the recording studio, letting the usual approach proposed to set your own studio project.

First: You must decide who will be the producer, even before deciding the engineer. No further decisions on monitoring, voice recording, do overdubs, signal processing, or to obtain a final mixture will result in Bo Diddley, to speak, if your bands of three or five or eight members competing all the time sounding as strong as this and if the girlfriend is in the vocal booth. Someone has to run the machine.

This is even true for an individual act in an independent artist, because in an empty studio's most experienced leadership (or semi-dried, salted or even just) engineers stage right and take the decisions for you. If the band does not present a united front behind his head, the whole process will be in danger. So, before anything else, decide

• Who be the producer?
• What are the provisions of this directory will be saved?
• How much debate and democracy will be involved in the process,
• When the various deadlines will be set and
• Why things will be run as they are.

It is now time for clarity, group cohesiveness, and common goals. egos larger than life and must be delirious reverie left at the door (even better, in the street), so that feasible, affordable, efficient and effective plan can be developed – and continued to a conclusion successful. Everyone needs to get on the same page (or playing the same melody, or whatever metaphor you prefer). Now you're as ready as you will be, so what's next?

Well, as usual, it is about money, mainly, and time, too. What is the operating budget? Can you afford (and want to afford) to go into a studio-level projects $ 30 per hour with engineer included? A studio pro 50-100 per hour with engineer may be included? To perform these calculations, you should have your songs by Pat, how you store them (rhythm section together or lined) and how long this will take. If you make a life three song played is one thing, if you make your first CD with 11 tracks which is quite another. For simplicity is love, and keep consistent examples from here forward, let's go with your demo yet.

The decision of the whole process can take a U-turn if one of Band members, or good (very good) friend, a decent project studio set up – which means professional equipment and semi-pro, a decent recording room, quality microphones (and cables!), and so on. So this is the second big decision, after choosing the producer, but it is not that the producer should only newly baptized. Once again, unanimity is required.

Where you make the sound works, if you save your drummer and bassist (and perhaps a guitar or a keyboard too) as a unit, which gives an impression organic air, you will baffles, sound deflectors, etc., to minimize bleeding. You need a helmet for everyone, although the pickups are in place, the quality of wiring to minimize hum and pops, and so on. If this is all starting to sound terribly complicated, choosing the best project studio in the intermediate city, one with good equipment and a decent studio, if not the state of the art. We did demo, remember? This is not your first platinum worthy.

Most likely, the studio will have a computer recording system with a Mac or a PC running one of the major Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software applications – Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer (Mac only), Sonar (PC only), or another. You probably do not want to do your demonstration with the entry-level programs like Apple's Garage Band, Cakewalk Home Studio or unless you have to; they are competent in the field of monitoring, but so below in terms of plug-ins and quality (like reverb) that are essential to the project.

If you do not see a number of different types of microphones, you at least want to see the faithful Shure SM-57s and 58s for miking guitar amplifiers (and using the drum overheads) and at least one good condenser microphone for singing. There should be a decent external mixer available, if not always used with the DAW, a sufficient number of cans (headphones) for everyone, Monster or other quality cables, perhaps one or two pieces of vintage rack, monitors and professional level (for the love of Pete, no life speaker stereo room). If the producer is not a pro audio gear or, well, he or she will need to study on the subject, or find a good (low paid) consultant.

If you set your project, if your parts are used and tight, if your excitement level remains high, Despite the ups and downs of getting your project demonstration, and – well, you're on the best shape you can be, given the importance what you do. You'll need the help of a good, flexible, communications engineer, do not take a hasty decision on the location where do your demo recording. Talk to different people, get references, owners of Studio interview questions difficult, and keep your priorities. If you have too broad in equipment and processes, as well, perhaps you should be in the recording href = "http://www.trackbuzzer.com/music-consultant/"> music business, and that is fine too. But never lose sight of what is really important, and the reason you got into all this in the first place: music.

This is the music, friends. If you want to find, put a large sign on the refrigerator.
