The four types of guitar amps

There are several different types of guitar amplifiers that are on the market today for you choose. If you are buying a new amp, it is best to decide which type you want, because they are all very different.

First type amps that arrived had to be tube amplifiers. The funny thing is, even if the technology of tube amps is quite old, these amps are still widely used in the pro and novice guitarists. The reason for their popularity is that the tone of these amps is generally very warm and natural compared to other types. Not only do they sound better, they are generally louder than other amps and the same power level. The only thing to remember with a tube amp is that they require maintenance because the vacuum tubes should be changed regularly.

Usually, there are two types of tubes in an amp – the preamp section and power section. Common tubes are 12AX7, 6L6, EL34, and many others.

There are many different brands of guitar amps that use tubes – Marshall, Soldano, Peavey, Genz Benz, Mesa Boogie and many others – most importantly older and vintage guitar amps.

Amp solid state have been invented to replace tube amps (which has not happen!). Basically, the main difference between tube and solid state amp is that the solid state uses transistors instead tubes. They need almost no maintenance because there are no tubes to change.

This does not mean that solid amps are not as good as the tube, it just all depends on the application and the type of music you play.

Some guitarists prefer the two collide and do what is called a hybrid amplifier. This type of amplifier combines both tube and transistor amplifiers in one. Usually, there are tubes at a stage amplification transistors and the other level (preamp and power amp)

Recently, digital amplifiers have been launched. These amplifiers use computers and integrated circuits to create different tones in the amp. Usually, there are a number of different types of effects and tons that you can get. These amps are very versatile.

Examples of Ampere Vox Valvetronix digital, Line6, and a little more. These amplifiers are great if you want to play all different types of music with different types of guitars.
