The use of e-mail management style rather than a tool of thought?

I have a problem with the use of e-mail as something more than a tool to improve communication. I used it as the only means of communication will replace face to face, pers. workplace. I do not doubt the necessity of E-mail, especially in large enterprises. However, it disgusts me to change on an individual interaction to be seen. I'd be a few thoughts together on the formal question one Chance hopefully my perspective to the company where I work. I am looking for input, and if anyone has seen articles on the topic around. I thought about the correlation with the phone, and how the conference has adopted a part of the activity, but has never been more like e-mail in some offices due to the importance of personal interaction Face. A company I worked for the exposed e-mail internal electronics for a short-lived, as he was led to many misunderstandings.
