The president or a portion of the bridge on my guitar is broken, is it acceptable to change the strings and use?

It is an old acoustic guitar really, and suffered only a tiny bit of water damage, and the part where the strings are attached to a cracked … But plays always good and sounds good, but not all of the President of crack and the strings to snap me while I play because it really hurts.
