did anyone get that fender strat that was made for shredding, how was it?

i have the normal fender strat, and it crap. i saw this special strat made for shredding and was like wow!

but is it really as good as it sounds? does it sound good, does it play good, does it stay in tune? all that stuff let me know!

Fender sent me a version of the flathead showmaster to try out, which is basically a superstrat with active pickups, and could possibly be what you’re reffering to. Mind you this was like 2 years ago. While I love fenders, i haveta say that i wasn’t too impressed with the guitar. And also it was ugly as hell. Also, there’s no way in hell your normal fender strat is crap. Fender strats are some of the best guitars for the money made with about the highest quality materials for that level of instrument (except for the hardware, but the wood and stuff is great), and they get great tone. I think that what you mean is probably that the distortion isn’t very good on it. That makes sense because a fender strat uses single coil pickups, which doesn’t respond as favorably to metal type distortion as a humbucker would. The Flathead showmaster stayed perfectly in tune, but it didn’t sound like anything special. It just sounded like a normal strat with EMG’s in it. You could just as easily just buy a new pickguard (for the humbucker size holes) and some EMG’s and get tehm installed (i’m assuming you don’t know how). It would certainly sound the same. I suppose it plays pretty well. with a 12” radius fretboard, it’s much flatter which alot of people find better for fast playing, however I play with a jaguar that has a 9” (i think) radius fretboard, and i actually prefer them to the flatter ones. There’s also an extra fret….so you get one more note to ad to your music….yay.

The things you should probably know about this guitar are A. it’s discontinued, they don’t make it anymore, and B. If you find it, it’s expensive. Even with my endorsee discount, they still would have charged me i think if i hadn’t send it back, which means that it had probably cost around 1000, but definitely more than 500 (because less than 500 i get for free.)
