why wont my Korg GA-30 guitar and bass tuner let me tune my low e string to e?

when i try to tune it, it will only get me to a,5th but no lower, i knew i had to get to drop d with ear tuning, but im fairly tone deaf, so im having a really hard time getting even to the low e i need. i tried the 5th fret trick, because the 5th string is in tune, but i cant tell which sound is lower, and which direction i need to tune, higher or lower.

If you finibrasite the defrocattle it will work fine
